Crime

I felt like writting something after spending some boring hours in a police station for no reason, after our last gig... We ended our set only to realise that the cops had raided the venue because of a "call" they received... (this in greek reality is translated to "the venue-owner had no connections with the mob") The weird thing is that he had all papers needed to run a venue, as opposed to most live bars in town (Thessaloniki) that do not have the appropriate licenses but have some kind of mob protection and nobody ever fines them... Well, he was taken into custody for supposedly serving alcohol to minors (which I can neither confirm nor deny) as he could not be accused for anything else. Then as I was in a storage room packing what was left of our equipment some girl passed by yelling that the cops had also taken our drummer into custody! As we soon were to find out, they had no reason to arrest him so they didn't even let him take his wallet with him where he kept his ID. Greek laws say that the cops have the right to keep you in custody with no accusations only if you cannot prove your identity by means of an ID card, passport or driver's license. We also found out that they had arrested a 13 year old girl, for reffering to them as "cops" instead of "police officers". So we packed our equipment and rushed to the "white tower precinct" (which is kilometers away from the white tower) to give them his ID card. They took it, smiled, and told us to leave. I asked them what he was being kept for but they very rudely replied that it is none of my business... Some other cops in the room were discussing about some guy who was arrested for possesion of 0.21 grams of heroin with the wrapping!!!! They were also yelling at the 13-year-old girl telling her to appologise for calling them "cops"... She refused and one of the cops started hitting her... Her mother soon came in and he stopped. We called a lawyer who confirmed that it was illegal to keep Spiraflas (our drummer) there and we told the cops. They continued using their most rude manner, telling us that this is none of our business. THE BEST PART: We then called a few national TV networks and told them about what happened, and soon the cops started receiving annoyingly many phonecalls from journalists asking about our drummer. Immediately after the phonecalls they called us in an office, along with our drummer, and told us that all they wanted was that we erased a part of a videotape that showed the cop car and some cops. Although this was illegal to ask for, we did so and they let us go (they were probably afraid that the girl's family would sue one of the cops on the tape or something). We were free to go in less than 10 minutes from when the media started calling. Cops afraid of the media... WHO IS THERE TO PROTECT CIVILLIANS?

While still in the building a cop came to us and told us: "You should not see us as the bad cops but as your friends, because we are here to protect you. I would be glad if you ever see me again and say 'hello officer' and really mean it". I told him that I agreed with him, but if so, how come do they keep us in a police station for some hours giving us a hard time instead of arresting the "bad guys"? He just said that this is "Police Business" and we cannot understand it...

It is a pity that a cop is made to believe all this bullshit! They made him believe that what he does is for the good of humanity. Well, theoretically it is! But in practice, I do not think that arresting and hitting a 13-year-old "criminal" for commiting the crime of reffering to "police officers" as "cops" is all for the good of human kind! I do not believe in a justice system that will leave a sadistic pig unpunished after hitting a helpless 13-year-old girl for calling him a "cop"! If I hit a cop, who is by no means as helpless as a 13-year-old girl, who has a gun and a badge, I will be beaten up by the whole precinct and taken to court for assaulting a police officer. How come nobody punishes a brainless cop for assaulting a 13-year-old?? How am I, or this 13-year-old girl, or anybody who witnesses anything like this, supposed to obey the law and not question authority?

The girl did not submit to the beating she received from this FILTHY PIG and continued to call him a "cop". Although this may have put her in a more difficult position, causing her and her family some trouble and lawyer expenses, she really had guts! I wish everyone had the guts this 13-year-old girl had!!! Then the cops would be forced to act by the law! These PIGS cannot protect anybody unless they start following the law themselves!

I therefore refuse to accept any law or authority of this rotten country (Greece) until COPS become POLICE OFFICERS. I believe the cop who hit this girl should be suspended from the force and put to jail after paying a BIG FINE to the girl's family for assaulting her... This cop should be put in jail along with all the criminals he had arrested and put to jail. I believe that even being assaulted, raped, or murdered by them is not as unfair as him beating a minor was! The underage girl could not possibly do anything to protect herself from the cop. The cop has supposedly received some training, and prisons are supposedly full of prison guards. So let justice shine! Put this pig in jail and let him see what his law is all about!

When I can rest assured that I can rely on the police for my protection and well being, when I cease to fear that if I ever have children they might be beaten by cops, then I will be more than happy to greet all police officers I see. Until then I will hate cops and seek their proper lawfull punishment!
